General Questions

What is the NDIS?

There are around 4.3 million Australians who have a disability. NDIS will provide about 460,000 Australians aged under 65, who have permanent and significant disability with funding for supports and services. For many people, it will be the first time they receive the disability support they need.

What is an NDIS Plan?

Your plan is a written agreement worked out with you. Everyone's plan is different. We will ask questions about how you are going in different areas of your life, what goals you would like to achieve and what kind of help and support you need. This will help us to develop a plan that provides the right support for you.

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

You can access the NDIS depending on your age, residency and disability.

Age - If you are under the age of 65.

Residency - If you live in Australia and are an Australian citizen, or if you have permission to live here permanently.

Disability - If your disability is life-long and affects how you manage everyday activities. This means you need help from other people or require special equipment to do certain things.

What does NDIS mean for me?

South Australians who currently receive state funded specialist disability support services will transition to the NDIS and will be contacted by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). You will continue with your existing supports until you transition to the NDIS..
